Hi guys! I’m back from my break in the Spanish Desert. I went to a European Burning Man Festival Called Nowhere and had a lot of fun building a camp, feeding the build crew lots of high vibe conscious eating food at our camp, as well as teaching yoga, teaching the chakras, discovering awe inspiring creative projects and connecting with like minded people. I also lost my voice for 5 days because of the tremendous amount of dust and wind storms, so if my voice sounds a little off to you today, that’s why.  I drove to Paris from Spain yesterday where I’ll be practicing some yoga , and maybe catching some interviews for the show, before I head back to Spain to attend the Yoga Conference in Barcelona where I hope to get some interviews as well. If you guys want to follow my yomad (as in yoga nomad) travel adventures, you can find me on instagram at Visionary Lifestyle Guide and of course the IG for the show at Visionary Lifestyle Podcast.

Today’s guest is Jules Febre.

Jules Febre was born and raised in a section of New York City known as the Lower East Side. At the age of 13, Jules spent three months in India; two of which were spent in Mysore studying Ashtanga Yoga with Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois. During that time he was invited to share satsang with Swami Nirmalananda and Shyam Das, two radical yogis that have each contributed greatly to the progression of yoga in the West. At the age of 16 Jules began working at the Jivamukti Yoga School helping to clean, and is now considered one of the leading teachers of the Jivamukti Yoga method, teaching the method world wide as well as facilitating at the very highly regarded teacher training programs.

Jules travels and teaches for a major part of each year, including Europe, Australia, Asia, and more. His classes offer a wide range and depth of understanding of Yoga Asana as well as Meditation, Chanting, and Yoga Philosophy.

Teaching yoga is Jules’ passion. He is grateful to his teachers, Sharonji (Gannon), Davidji (Life) who he has had the privilege of studying with for over 15 years, for igniting his devotion to the Jivamukti Yoga practice and for inspiring countless students around the world.

I met Jules in India where he was teaching at the International Yoga festival in Rishikesh, where we recorded this interview in a garden at the Parmarth Niketan Ashram. Jules is a bit different than most of the yoga teachers I’ve met. He has a wicked sense of humor, that he brings into his classes, and he’s clearly very well studied and only when he speaks do you realize his tremendous depth. In this interview we discuss the 5 Tenants of Jivamukti Yoga, the yogic perspective on Veganism, his experience Teaching in Correctional Facilities

Yoga Beyond the 8 Limbs, the importance of Planting Seeds, and Jules gives us a deep explanation of what it means to live the first tenant of yoga, Ahimsa.

As always, notes to things discussed are in the show notes, which you can find on the blog post for this episode at visionary-lifestyle.com/podcast

Enjoy and Namaste

Namaste Rainbow Warriors!

I’m dropping you a quick line to let you know that I’m not going to be able to publish shows for the next couple of weeks.

I’m currently in Barcelona ,Spain, and going to an event in the desert where I won’t have access to the internet to get the shows out to you.

There are two more episodes coming up from my second season, which was all recorded in India. I was hoping to get those all out before the break, and even start publishing two shows a week, but guys these shows are taking me 10-20 hours of work per episode, and while working and traveling and without any help on post-production, I just can’t keep up as much as I’d like to.

I have more than 50 recorded episodes in the pipeline for you. They’re all with the most amazing people in Bali, Thailand, California, and New York  and can’t wait for you to hear all these amazing conversations!

If you’re finding value here, I humbly ask for your support. If I can get a few more patrons on my patreon page, I can hire some help and get these out to you sooner!

https://www.patreon.com/visionarylifestyle

Please visit that page at patreon.com/visionarylifestyle , where you can make a small recurring donation. Or, if it suits you better, there’s a paypal link on my website for one time donations. That’s at visionary-lifestyle.com/podcast

Your support means the world to me, and let’s me know that I’m not putting in all this effort in vain and of course helps me cover the out of pocket costs for producing the show, and get the episodes out to you in a more timely manner.

If you can’t make a financial donation, writing a review in itunes, and sharing the show on social media and with your family and friends, are other ways to share the Visionary LIfestyle Love.

I’m so grateful you’re here, and listening, and hopefully finding value that is helping to activate YOUR highest potential.

Our guest today is Satya Kalra.

If you listened to my very first episode of this show:The 7 Steps to Activating Your Highest Potential ( http://visionarylifestylepodcast.libsyn.com/rss ), you’ll know that the chakras are considered one of my 7 steps, so the purpose of this interview is to take a deep dive on that subject.
Satya Kalra is a self-transformation, empowerment, and happiness coach, spiritual guide, international speaker, and bestselling author. She is also a founder and president of the non-profit organization Path to Anandam to help people to explore their eternal happiness and peace within.
She was a veteran in the biotech industry for 35 years serving as a visionary, entrepreneur, scientist, founder, CEO, president and chairperson. Following a divine call, Satya left the helm as a CEO in the biotech industry (cancer arena) and founded Path to Anandam . Her personal mission is to live in love, peace, and Anandam, and to propagate blissful living by helping others become more self-dependent and self-reliant, especially destitute women and children.
For more than 20 years, Satya has been practicing and promoting awareness of blissful living through applications of timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita and spirituality in daily life. She creates a bridge between science and spirituality, and brings awareness to spirituality through ancient wisdom from India with a modern practical approach.
The focus of Satya’s teachings is how to be happy, heal yourself, enhance the quality of life, experience blissfulness/Anandam and reach your unlimited potential by raising your conscious level through self-developed 7-Steps. These easy, simple and effective techniques (Anandam meditation and spiritual practices) for the body, mind and spirit have benefited 1000s of people.
I met Satya at The International Yoga festival in Rishikesh, India. I attended her Chakras workshop and invited her to the show to share her vast wisdom on the subject she’s been teaching for over 20 years.

Our guest today is a traveling monk known as Swami Paramadvaiti. He belongs to a monastic order from India, called the Vaisnava tradition, more commonly known as the Hare Krishna Movement. He began monastic life when he was initiated at the age of 18 by renowned spiritual master of the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition, Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada (the founder preceptor of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, commonly known as the "Hare Krishna Movement".)

Seven years later he accepted the vows of a traveling monk . He now travels the world staying in one place usually not longer than 3 days.

For more than forty years he has devoted himself to cover the world over, speaking about Vedic culture and its practical solutions to modern problems. In 1984 he established his own spiritual mission called VRINDA, the Vrindavan Institute for Vaishnava Culture and Studies, with the aim of spreading the cultural heritage of the Vedas around the world. In the same way, he has established more than thirty-five Eco Yoga Villages in South America and Europe, creating true Vedic spiritual oasis where people from different countries can have a profound approach to this sacred philosophy.

He calls himself a torch carrier for Pachamama, which is the word for earth in South America.

In this interview we speak of many things including a solution to the environmental crisis,

The United Nations of Spirit: which is Weaving a Tapestry of Consciousness and Love, and he gives us his perspective on the  fact that despite cows being regarded as Divine in India, India remains the world’s largest exporter of beef.

We recorded this interview at the International Yoga Festival , sitting right next to the food tent, and unfortunately we incurred some noise from the clean up after lunch, but the Swami made a great joke just before I welcomed him to the show, that was right on point and brilliantly reframed my frustration with the noise, so I left it in for your enjoyment.

This man has a huge heart that you can see and hear from a mile away. He offers lots of wisdom for living a life of peace and harmony with the earth and all the sentient beings we share it with.

I hope you glean some nuggets of inspiration from listening to this wise soul, and I hope you’ll too be inspired to become a torch carrier for Pachamama.

In her own words, she’s here to empower people to take their health back into their own hands and learn to live with maximum vitality, and to re-connect into our own inherent power, our birthright, either on the Yoga mat or through fasting/wellness programs.

She leads retreats worldwide and teaches 200 and 500 hour Yoga Teacher Trainings as well as giving frequent public lectures and workshops.

I interviewed Andrea at The International Yoga Festival in India where she was one of the speakers. We connected immediately , and she was my sole witness and lovingly held space for me for a hugely transformative moment during my trip to India, my dip in the River Ganga. I’ll never forget that moment really and it was really special to have her there holding space for me.

In the interview Andrea goes deep on a lot of fascinating topics. She explains the power of Fasting, a Juice Fast vs Juice Feast , and her surprising take on what it was like living in Bali, where she ran the detox program at The Yoga Barn. She explains why not milk, shares her take on gluten, and is passionate about empowering people to listen to the the Guru Inside.

You can hear lots of India in the background on this interview, and listening to it, it takes me back.

Yogis and monkeys and Ganga oh my….

Andrea walks her talk and just one look at her makes you want to listen to anything she has to share. She is the poster child for vitality people. We had an absolute blast recording this interview and I hope you’ll be laughing right along with us!

I loved talking to this visionary teacher! He had me at namaste in his first class. This man is sunshine personified! I interviewed him in the garden at Parmarth Niketan Ashram in Rishikesh India, after attending his classes at the International Yoga Festival . In this interview we discuss why yoga starts in the kitchen, and the difference between happy food and grumpy food, and then he goes into detail about the 5 koshas , also called sheaths, or subtle bodies. Really fascinating stuff here, guys. I provided a graphic in the show notes to help you understand this vast concept a bit better.

I really want to visit his school and am called to deepen my knowledge and experience of yoga through his teachings. Who knows, maybe I’ll see YOU there!

Check out the show notes for links to Yogrishi’s website and social media channels. His website is full of video classes including some about the koshas, or sheaths, that we discuss in the interview, and he even has recipe videos there. VLP S2 06 Anandra George on the Yoga of Sound

Our guest today is Anandra George.

Anandra is a pioneer in the global yoga community, re-introducing the ancient practice of sound as a fundamental practice. She created the world’s first registered yoga teacher training based entirely on the transformational power of sound (including Sanskrit, mantra, Indian classical vocal meditation, and non-violent communication for everyday life). American by birth, Indian by soul, and global citizen by expression, Anandra helps people transform their limiting belief systems and cultivate their most fulfilling contribution to the world.

She divides her time between India, Japan, and on Kaua’i island, Hawaii, and teaches mantra workshops and intensives worldwide. For more than 20 years, she’s been on “the path” and has been teaching and seeing private clients since 1999.

An internationally respected mantra teacher and sacred musician, she is frequently invited to teach and lead chanting/kīrtan at the world’s largest yoga festivals.

In fact, Anandra and I did this interview during the IYF in Rishikesh, India where she produced the programming for the incredible sound stage.

The same morning of this interview I attended a beautifully intense and transformative sunrise morning meditation with her next to the Ganga river. This woman has magic in her!

Following this interview, I have found a whole new depth of understanding and appreciation for mantra and the yoga of sound. Anandra is offering up something really important and uniquely special.

I sincerely hope you get some inspiration to ramp up your voice and your practice after hearing this interview. There’s no doubt that I’ve caught the yoga of sound bug after spending this time with Anandra!

Enjoy….

Our guest today is Dr. Bruce Lipton. This is the 2nd part of our interview.

Dr. Lipton is an internationally recognized leader in bridging the gap between science and spirituality. He is a stem cell biologist, a bestselling author and a pioneer in biology and epigenetics. He has been a guest speaker on hundreds of TV and radio shows, as well as keynote presenter for national and international conferences. He’s the author of the bestseller “The Biology of Belief:Unleashing the Power of Consciousness, Matter & Miracles”,  as well as “The Honeymoon Effect: The Science of Creating Heaven on Earth”, and co-author of “Spontaneous Evolution: Our Positive Future and a Way To Get There From Here”.

Bruce teaches that belief is an energy field and that there are invisible forces influencing our lives, with 70% of them being negative and self-sabotaging. In this interview, he breaks down how 95% our lives are dictated by our subconscious programing, and towards the end of the show, he helps us understand the ways to reprogram ourselves.

We recorded this interview in his room at The Parmarth Niketan Ashram next to the Ganga River during the International Yoga Festival in Rishikesh India. You’ll hear some background noise of the streets so I hope you can appreciate that we’re bringing India to you.

Our conversation was so long and deep, that I had to break it into two segments.

In the first segment we talk a lot about the state of the world, the 6th mass extinction on the planet, climate change, human behavior , food choices, and then we start getting into the science of Epigenetics.

In the second segment we get deeper into the biology of belief , how we’re run by our subconscious, yoga as a solution, and how we can become the masters of our own lives.

It’s a really deep discussion about how we go wrong with our thoughts, and then we tap into solutions to reprogram the subconscious. There’s a great nugget at the end that I really want everyone to do as homework!

This can really be a life changing episode for you so I urge you to listen to the whole thing and give it your full attention.

Today’s guest is Indu Sharma. Indu is a yoga instructor at the Parmarth Niketan Ashram in Rishikesh, India. She has a diploma in yoga and naturopathy, a masters degree in yoga, yogic science and human consciousness, and also a PHD in yoga. She teaches regular yoga classes at the ashram, is a featured instructor at The International Yoga Festival, and along with her mentor, Mata Ji, provides instruction for all the teacher trainings at the ashram.

http://www.parmarth.org/

Being trained and practicing yoga in the west, I was deeply called to India to experience the real thing. Risihikesh is known as the birth place of yoga, so what better place to dive in than there?

I met Indu when I became her student at daily 7am yoga classes when I arrived at the ashram during my first trip to India. I was excited to attend the classes there because I was seeking a truly authentic Indian yoga experience, and she provided exactly that. I was so inspired by her teaching and practice after asking her questions after class every day, I finally asked her to do this interview. She is so busy with her classes but was kind enough to squeeze in some time for this. I hope you can grab a notebook to take notes on this one because she shares a lot of wisdom.

Of course the show notes will have links to much of what we talk about as well.

And now, on with the show.

Our guest today is Dr. Maurya.

Dr.Maurya is an Ayurveda Doctor, also known as an Ayurvedacharya, he’s a specialist in detox and rejuvenation, also known as Panchakarma , and has degrees in Holistic Health, Yoga & Naturopathy.

In 2005, he established an Ayurveda Panchakarma center at the Parmarth Niketan Ashram, in Rishikesh, India. There, he’s managing and providing all Ayurvedic treatments, Naturopathy treatments and Consultations. He travels extensively delivering lectures on Ayurveda, and leads training in Ayurveda, naturopathy and panchakarma at his center in Rishikesh.

I spent 21 days receiving panchakarma and cleansing and restoring my body temple at his center, and I saw massive positive results in the balance of my mind, body and spirit. The cleanse detoxed my body on a cellular level and helped to clear a 30 year old battle I’ve been having with psoriasis. I’m so pleased to see the results in my own body of the power of these ancient and plant based practices.

My body has never felt healthier, and I’m so happy to now be sharing this information with you! I hope you find some education and empowerment from this interview.

The Dr. invited me to do this interview at his retreat sanctuary in the mountains just above Rishikesh. Its a peaceful secluded haven where massive healing happens.

Our guest today is Sadhviji.

Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswatiji,  was raised in an American family in Hollywood, California and graduated from Stanford University . She was completing her Ph.D. in psychology when she left America in 1996 to come and live permanently at Parmarth Niketan Ashram in Rishikesh, India. She has been living there for the last twenty years, engaged in spiritual practice and dedicated service.

She has a really interesting story of how India claimed her as it’s own,  and I urge you to check out the video that’s linked in the show notes where she explains it.

She was officially initiated into the order of Sanyas (monastic renunciation) in the year 2000, by her Guru, and the spiritual head of Parmarth Niketan Ashram, His Holiness Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji.

Sadhviji is a renowned speaker who gives keynote addresses at large forums, on a wide variety of topics ranging from conscious business to science and spirituality to sustainable development, to the keys of happiness and peace in life to all aspects of yoga. She has also been a speaker at the United Nations, Parliament of World Religions and many international conferences and summits. Her talks blend the knowledge and logic of the West with the insights, spirituality and wisdom of the East, and she is renowned as a spiritual bridge between the two cultures.

At Parmarth Niketan, Rishikesh, where she lives most of the year, she gives spiritual discourses and daily satsang, teaches meditation, provides counseling and oversees a myriad charitable and humanitarian projects and activities.

Sadhviji is:

  • Secretary-General of the Global Interfaith WASH Alliance, an international interfaith organization dedicated to bringing clean water, sanitation & hygiene to the children of the world.
  • President of Divine Shakti Foundation, a foundation dedicated to bringing education and empowerment to women and children which runs free schools, vocational training programs and empowerment programs.
  • Director of the annual world-famous International Yoga Festival at Parmarth which has been covered in Time Magazine, CNN, New York Times, Le Monde and other prestigious publications.

Sadhviji has a Ph.D in Psychology and was the Managing Editor for the monumental project of the 11-volume Encyclopedia of Hinduism.

We  did this interview deep in the heart of The Parmarth Niketan Ashram in Rishikesh which serves as the home of The International Yoga festival and where I stayed for about 5 weeks .

Something you need to know about this interview and Sadhviji is that she has such a calm and warm presence, and as I was re-listening to this interview to edit it for you, I was wishing I had this on video, because I remembered how she had such a lovely smile on her face the whole time. She smiles with her eyes, you know what I mean, she has a really authentic presence,

You heard her bio, she a real activist and is doing so much sacred service to the world with all the projects she’s running, and I am truly honored I got so much of her time. I sat in her  satsangs many nights while I was at The Parmarth Niketan Ashram, and every time she managed to bring me so deeply into my heart that I literally shed tears, every time. She has a way of speaking truth in a very practical way that anyone can understand. I encourage you to check out the Parmarth youtube channel and even tune into the facebook live videos of her leading satsangs to learn even more from her. I’ve provided links in the show notes.

In the interview we talk about the 8 limbs of yoga, the international yoga festival, the meaning of shakti, being of service, conscious eating, the dairy industry, the plight of the cows in India, meditation and more. We packed a lot in! I hope you enjoy spending this time with Sadhviji as much as I did. And make sure you make it to the end to hear her wish for the world. It’s a great one …

To follow her and learn more about her work in the world, make sure you check out the show notes for all the links.

And now, on with the show

Sadhviji’s story of coming to India https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8eYkvW4SK4 watch at about 5minutes in.

Welcome tribe! This is the final episode of season one of the Visionary Lifestyle podcast! It feels really good that I succeeded in launching the show from india and publishing the first season , mostly recorder in LA, from here. I assure It was NO small feat with the snail slow internet and intermittent power outages! Love you Mother India!!!

Season 2 will launch very soon, and contains all the interviews I did at the International Yoga festival here in  in Rishikesh. It’s completely packed with amazing conversations with saints and sages, and lots of the sounds of India. I got access to some very high level teachers who are dropping a LOT of wisdom so make sure you stay tuned in next season. So One of my huge take-aways from my time in India is that it’s NOT quiet! Ha My fantasies about meditating in a silent ashram were quickly squashed haha. The beauty of that though is it became a recurring conversation and a reminder lesson that we must seek the quiet within, and develop the ability to find our center and stillness anywhere we are, and no matter what is going on around us. This is true yoga.

In this episode I’m coming to you from a meditation hut in The Beatles Ashram, also known as  the Maharishi Ashram in Rishikesh India. You’ll notice the sound quality difference in this and in future episodes , because I’m now recording out in the open on the road digital nomad style. So you’ll be getting a lot more sounds of the atmosphere. I hope you embrace that and can just think of it as me bringing the world to you:) I was stressed about having the best possible sound quality for you and eventually had to surrender to what I can’t control, which is random voices and sounds that sometimes found their way into the middle of interviews.  You’ll see what I mean. I think it really adds to the charm of the interviews.

So I’m  wrapping up this first season of the podcast with a heartfelt share about my time in india, which was a  bucket list item that I’m really thrilled I can now cross off my list.

I’ll be sharing my insights as a first time yogi in India, as well as some practical packing and travel advice. This episode was recorded after my Ayurvedic panchakarma treatment,  and just before the International yoga festival started. Look out for an interview with my amazing panchakarma doctor coming up in the next season, I’m really happy to be bringing you some deep insight about Ayurveda.

You can Check the show notes to find links to a lot of what I talk about in this episode.

Namaste from India!

This is my first in a series of international interviews, and I’m excited to bring you more shows during my international adventures in India and beyond!

Today’s guest is Vedic Meditation teacher Light Watkins. Light has been been operating in the meditation space for over 15 years. He’s based in Santa Monica, CA, and travels the world teaching everyone from bankers, artists, and politicians, to CEOs, caretakers, and comedians how to meditate in a self-sufficient way. He’s also an author and currently working on a series of books called The Inner Gym book series, the first of which is available now, under that title.

He’s a regular contributor to mindbodygreen.com, a TEDx speaker and he founded an alcohol enterlightenment event, as in entertainment meets enlightenment, in La Called The Shine Movement.

I interviewed Light sitting on the banks of The River Ganges, affectionately known as Ma Ganga here in Rishikesh India. As you’ll hear, the interview starts out peacefully and toward the end, the very real and vibrant sounds of India invade our conversation. I urge you to stick through it and hear a gem of perspective that Light shares at the end.

Enjoy and Namaste!

During the past 40 years, close to 20 percent of the Amazon rainforest has been cut down—more than in all the previous 450 years since European colonization began.”
