Namaste from India!

This is my first in a series of international interviews, and I’m excited to bring you more shows during my international adventures in India and beyond!

Today’s guest is Vedic Meditation teacher Light Watkins. Light has been been operating in the meditation space for over 15 years. He’s based in Santa Monica, CA, and travels the world teaching everyone from bankers, artists, and politicians, to CEOs, caretakers, and comedians how to meditate in a self-sufficient way. He’s also an author and currently working on a series of books called The Inner Gym book series, the first of which is available now, under that title.

He’s a regular contributor to mindbodygreen.com, a TEDx speaker and he founded an alcohol enterlightenment event, as in entertainment meets enlightenment, in La Called The Shine Movement.

I interviewed Light sitting on the banks of The River Ganges, affectionately known as Ma Ganga here in Rishikesh India. As you’ll hear, the interview starts out peacefully and toward the end, the very real and vibrant sounds of India invade our conversation. I urge you to stick through it and hear a gem of perspective that Light shares at the end.

Enjoy and Namaste!

Richard was correct on his stats about the extent of the destruction of the Amazon Rainforest

During the past 40 years, close to 20 percent of the Amazon rainforest has been cut down—more than in all the previous 450 years since European colonization began.”

I have corrected my research notes and apologize for my error. I am relieved to learn I was wrong, and urge us all to continue our efforts to preserve this essential natural resource.

Today’s guest is Maryam Henein. Maryam is an investigative journalist, activist,  filmmaker, yogini and entrepreneur. She’s best known for directing the documentary Vanishing of the Bees narrated by Ellen Page .

Following a near-fatal pedestrian versus car crash in 2002 that dragged her for 49 feet, she researched issues of health and nutrition to help her in her recovery, and through that, became aware of colony collapse disorder, which led to her to make her film.

Since the release of Vanishing of the Bees, she has become an outspoken advocate of bees and bee colonies, non-GMO foods and the release of pesticides into the environment.

Her latest venture is honeycolony.com, a member supported online magazine and marketplace that hosts a number of optimized-health and investigative writers.

I know her as a tireless voice for health , the environment and as someone who encourages people to be their own best health advocate.

In this interview we discuss why bees are sacred, the most ethical way to source your bee products, pesticides on planes, autoimmune disorders and lots more. Let’s tune into the show to get the buzz
